This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted January 11, 2022.

Northwest Farm Credit Services is in search of an Accountant (internally known as a Loan Accountant) to join our High Risk Accounting team in our Spokane Headquarters.

As a member-owned financial cooperative, we help business owners in agriculture, forestry and fisheries secure the financing they need to operate and grow, and the crop insurance they need to protect their livelihoods.

Our customers are primarily located in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.

This full-time position reports to the Manager of High Risk Accounting and is responsible for providing centralized support for all functions relating to the analysis, monitoring, and accounting of Northwest FCS’s high risk loan portfolios.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide loan accounting services including funding requests, receipts, loan record set-up, risk evaluation, and maintenance in the loan accounting system.
Perform monthly and daily report monitoring and reconciling, ensuring the soundness of related processes of all loan accounting transactions and servicing.
Communicate with our partners nationwide regarding loan accounting activities on participated and syndicated loans to ensure compliance.
Perform loan servicing actions, such as requests for amendments to current pricing structures, payment structures, or commitment schedules.
Provide technical advice and assistance to all business units on loan structuring and accounting standards, serving as a subject matter expert.
Perform processes and ensure accuracy for all procedures and internal control practices, and make appropriate recommendations on procedures, policies, business continuity, internal control documentation, and process improvements.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least two (2) years’ of experience in finance, accounting or commercial lending.
Knowledge of accounting systems, loan accounting, and related financial and management reporting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook as well as loan accounting and G/L systems.
Excellent time management skills with a proactive approach to deadlines.
Ability to think critically and exercise sound judgement.
CPA desired, but not required.
