Robert Half’s new hands on Controller opening will give you the opportunity to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful company. The permanent Controller position is situated in the Spokane, Washington area. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day

– Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

– Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

– Ensure client satisfaction by reviewing deliverables of self and team

– Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

– Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

– Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

– Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly

– Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

– Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

– Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

– Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

Job Requirements:
– Accomplished in analytical, quantitative and social skills

– 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

– Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

– CPA/MBA preferred

– Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

– Great attention to detail

– Adeptness in Consolidated Financial Statements

– Background working with Asset Liability Management

– Strong familiarity with Budget Processes

– Managing Budgets experience highly desired

– General familiarity with Electronic Manufacturing

– Budget management experience required

– Manufacturing experience highly preferred

– Budget forecasting experience

– Demonstrated knowledge of Financial Statement

– Practical knowledge of Lean Manufacturing

– Analyze Financial Statements experience

– Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued

– Vow to meet business deadlines

– Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

– Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively throughout all levels of the company

– BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

– Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
