Orion is licensed nationwide and provides service to our clients from three Southern California locations.Orion Risk Management is seeking a Controller to oversee day to day accounting activities.

Orion Risk Management is part of The Alera Group.

The Controller will be involved in regular recurring accounting operations, including reviewing all cash transactions, monthly financial statement package and payroll, as well as working on multiple other financial aspects.

Such activities include preparing the annual budget and commenting on variances incurred throughout the year and assisting with Orion’s participation in the Alera outside audit.

The Controller will manage the small, but effective, accounting department and will be involved with the management of office and other administrative functions.Responsibilities The selected candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, as they will be required to communicate with both local and corporate management on a regular basis, in addition with internal personnel of all levels, as well as outside parties.

The person must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

They will also oversee the accounting for certain affiliated entities.This position presents opportunities for growth for the right person.QualificationsThe right candidate will possess all or most of the following requirements:Insurance experience / knowledge, either as significant insured or for sizable agency
– strongly desired but not requiredExperience with captive insurance companies
– desired but not requiredCPA with active license
– desired but not requiredKnowledge of GAAPExperience with audits, either as an outside CPA or involved in being auditedBudgeting experienceManagement experienceExperience managing various administrative departmentsStrong knowledge of payroll and potentially HRAbility to function in a multi entity environmentAbility to multitaskMinimum 10 years of applicable experienceMinimum bachelor’s degree in accounting or financeAbility to grow into a position that may ultimately oversee accounting and finance across multiple entitiesEqual Opportunity Employment We’re an equal opportunity employer.
