Payroll Tax Accountant

Payroll Tax AccountantPosition can be located anywhere in the statesManages the filing of all local, state, and federal payroll taxes using ADP Employment Tax Services.

Responsible for maintaining compliance with all entities and to conduct in-depth research of new tax laws and regulations.

Oversees all aspects of monthly, quarterly and annual Payroll tax processes.

Audits final Payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis.

Assist with administering the end-to-end Payroll, including running and balancing bi-weekly payroll each pay period and ensuring all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.Responsibilities:* Responsible for accurate and timely submission of monthly, quarterly and annual state (multiple) and federal payroll taxes* Audits key activities related to each payroll processing close* Leads key department and cross functional projects; develops project plan, assigns tasks, testing and ensure work effort completes on time.* Remains updated on mandates and changes related to state and federal payroll taxes* Executes ad-hoc reports and develops data extracts.* Assists with system upgrades and performs regression testing on fixes and enhancements.

Performs post implementation quality assurance, trouble-shooting and issue resolution.* Trains others in the department on administrative aspects of the tax process and oversees and audits work products.* Is the Payroll tax subject matter expert for Cambia and is called upon to resolve Payroll related tax issues and provide guidance to leaders to ensure compliance.* Assists the Deferred Compensation program manager with administration of the Deferred Compensation plan as it relates to Payroll.

Performing audits and evaluates processes to identify gaps and mitigate risk in the administration of the plan.Minimum Requirements:* Working knowledge payroll tax rules and regulations as mandated by the state and federal government and experience applying that knowledge to current issues or decision making.

This includes multistate taxation rules and requirements.* Experience managing payroll department projects; includes development of project work plans, organizing teams and delegating tasks, and seeing projects through to completion.* Completes monthly, quarterly and annual interface and balances to ADP Tax Payment Systems and submits quarter and annual tax files to ADP for Processing.* Corrects any discrepancies between Workday and ADP.* Signs off and obtains Management’s signature for ADP Quarter and Annual Files.* Follows up with ADP on Tax Notices from Taxing Agencies.* Updates tax rates in both ADP and Workday.* Prepares materials for external or internal auditors.* Ability to use analytical skills in diagnosing problems and implementing corrective actions.* Ability to work under tight timelines and manage competing priorities to ensure established outcomes and deadlines are met.* Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.* Strong computer skills including spreadsheet development, report generation and presentation development.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience.* Working knowledge of Workday helpful.* Ensures all year end processes are reconciled timely and accurately including W-2s.* Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects; exercising judgement and making effective decisions.* Assists in the administration of our Deferred Compensation plan* Extensive knowledge of complex state and federal payroll tax rules and regulations.* Experience with multi-state taxation rules.* Ability to lead, direct and motivate staff members in task completion and problem solving.Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:Payroll TTo view the full job description, click here
