Health and Safety Specialist, Construction

This is an excellent opportunity to have an immediate impact on the day-to-day operational efficiency while promoting and ensuring a total safety culture. **This position will be based out of our Spokane, WA operation, but will require to be on-site full time in Central Oregon for approximately 12 months (lodging provided). Upon completion of the project in Central Oregon, this individual will resume work in our Spokane branch full-time.

A Day in the Life

* Promote Flynn’s safety vision and objectives through employee engagement
* Foster and promote safe work practices and implement compliance measures for safety standards
* Provide safety orientation and training for all employees
* Assist supervisors and managers in developing Site-Specific Safety Plans
* Ensure a full understanding of the expectations of the safety program with all members of the team
* Conduct regular job site safety observations/audits
* Recognize hazardous situations and implement effective corrective practices
* Maintain OSHA logs and records
* Facilitate, investigate, manage, and record all near miss, injuries, and accidents
* Provide guidance and education on safe work procedures, best practices, regulations, policies and use of safety equipment
* Coordinate and run weekly safety meetings
* Represent Flynn at on-site regulatory inspections (OSHA)
* Attend relevant conferences, meetings, trainings, etc. to stay abreast of industry trends and regulations
* Manage safety incentive programs which reward targeted behaviors and results

What We Are Seeking

* Bachelor’s degree in environmental health & safety, safety management, construction or related field
* Previous construction experience
* In depth technical knowledge of construction related OSHA, federal, state, and local regulatory standards
* Experience managing staff
* High degree of written communication and public speaking ability
* Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels in a construction environment
* OSHA 30 certified (Required)
* Bilingual is a plus
