Workers Compensation Senior Underwriter, Construction

AmTrust North America

This is a Contract position in Spokane, WA posted November 25, 2021.

Overview Corporate workers’ compensation underwriter responsible for growth and profitability of the construction practice through vetted and approved specialized agents.

Responsible for marketing, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of construction business.

Communication and negotiations will be a large part of the day-to-day functions of this role.

Your focus will be to establish strong relationships both internally and externally, and to act as the critical interface between the broker, clients, and the company.

You will be expected to continuously contribute to improve current working and underwriting practices.

Responsibilities New business acquisition and servicing of existing customers.

Technical risk assessment, pricing, and deal structure.

Skillful, decisive, and selective underwriting.

Building and maintaining a profitable portfolio of accounts.

Developing creative solutions unique to customers’ needs while safeguarding AmTrust’s bottom line.

Coordinating delivery of Claims, Risk Engineering and Administrative services.

Effective account stewardship.

Compliance with all internal and external guidelines and legal requirements.

Leadership and participation in special projects.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university 5 years of commercial lines property and casualty experience CPCU or CIC designation preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of construction workers compensation insurance coverage and risk selection, methods, and pricing.

Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze data and make an informed, calculated risk decision Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills Ability to make sound contributions to tactical and strategic planning Ability to train, coach and mentor individuals of various backgrounds within area of expertise High energy self-starter, who is resilient and has an entrepreneurial spirit Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to travel up to 25% of the time nationally and to the Home Office as required What We Offer AmTrust Financial Services offers a competitive compensation package and excellent career advancement opportunities.
