Associate Director, Digital Manufacturing Systems and Support

This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted December 6, 2021.

Responsible for the design, support, and maintenance of systems that support Operations, including our Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).

This position is responsible for oversite and direction of the digital strategy and support for four manufacturing sites.

Provides consultative systems guidance to the users in the application of systems analysis to business problems.

Initiates and implements systems design projects of medium size and complexity.

Provides a Liaison roll between the local Directors and Collins Digital Technology.

This role requires a research-oriented problem solver with an analytical mind.

The Associate Director uses their strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to translate IT language into everyday language.

This role seeks strong project and time management skills to effectively lead large IT projects including the roll out of IT infrastructures across various technologies.

To be successful, the Associate Director also needs a strong knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases, and data storage systems.

The Associate Director serves as a visionary with an emphasis on system improvement and operational best practices.

Candidate will work a hybrid schedule from one of the following cities
– Spokane, WA, Pueblo, CO or Troy, OH (near a Collins facility).

Primary Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and supervise Digital Manufacturing Support (DMS) Team across four sites

• Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness for the DMS department

• Manages and coordinates all IT-related matters including security, and computer hardware and software as it relates to DMS hardware and software

• Trouble-shoots and solves problems related to hardware, software, and network problems

• Researches and recommends acquisition of network hardware and software

• Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time

• Build long term relationships with outside vendors for IT related products and services

• Develop and maintain relationships with Collins Digital Technology (DT) , keeping abreast of DT changes as well as being the focal point for DMS systems

• Lead large DMS projects, including the design and deployment of new DMS systems and services

• Monitor performance of DMS systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure

• Help define and set strategy for IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes

• Analyze business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for DMS needs

• Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software

• Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal DMS

• Analyzes business requirements and develops creative solutions to enhance business use of computing systems.

• Responsible to develop and test disaster recovery and data security functions for business systems.

• Create long term strategy for DMS group and ensure linkage to business unit and corporate initiatives (Industry 4.0, digital transformation, etc)

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years’ experience OR In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required

• Must be a U.S.

Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an IT manager for a minimum of (5) year(s) including teams in different regions and with varying skill sets.

• A Working knowledge of TSQL for MS SQL and SAP, specifically materials and finance

• A background of interfacing disparate systems.

(SAP, Standalone robotics, Quality test systems)

• Experience managing Vendors, specifically 3rd party software.

• A background in

• IT with significant interaction with Enterprise IT

• Working with Servers, Printers, ethernet devices.

• Managing disaster recovery plans for systems.

• Working in scalable software applications such as MES (manufacturing execution systems), PLM (product life management), or ERP (enterprise resource planning)
