The client advocacy immigration clinic provides free assistance to low-income individuals and families who need immigration law advice and representation.The Clinical Fellow supervises law students in all aspects of client representation and designs and teaches law clinic seminar classes on skills and substantive law. The Clinical Fellow is responsible for administrative duties related to managing cases, record keeping associated with funding, and community outreach. This inaugural Clinical Fellow will also help to build the Immigration Clinic infrastructureMinimum Qualifications:• A strong academic record and/or other indicia of high performance ability;• Licensed bar membership in good standing in any one of the 50 states or of the District of Columbia;• A minimum of 3 years of recent experience practicing immigration law, including both defensive and affirmative work;• Demonstrated commitment to work for low-income immigrant clients;• Enthusiasm and potential to teach and mentor law students;• Commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion and building community;• Aptitude for working both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment;• Excellent oral and written communication skills.Desired Qualifications:• Experience supervising law students or lawyers new to practice;• Excellent time management and organizational skills;• Sense of humor, positive attitude, and self-awareness;• Ability to speak and write proficiently in Spanish.EEO Statement:Gonzaga University is a Jesuit, Catholic, humanistic institution, and is therefore interested in candidates who will contribute to its distinctive mission.
