nn North Point Village nn nn n nn nn  POSITION SUMMARY: Plan, organize and direct the overall operation of nursing services in accordance with applicable regulations, policies, and guidelines to foster the highest degree of quality care.nn nnAssumes primary responsibility for the health care services on a 24 hour/7-day week basis.

Participates in service planning as well as renewal and maintenance of these plans.

Recommends health care service goals and assists in their implementation.

Works with the Executive Director to supervise, oversee and coordinate the work of Care Partners to meet Resident needs.

Coordinates clinical services to Residents and trains all other partners, as assigned.nn nn nn nn ESSENTIAL DUTIES: nn nn
• Adheres to and conveys philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality and a home-like environment for Residents.nn nn
• Plans, analyzes and evaluates needs of Residents and reports needs appropriately.nn nn
• Coordinates, in cooperation with the Executive Director, ancillary health care services for Residents.nn nn
• Adheres to all established policies and procedures.nn nn
• Responds to Resident or staff concerns and refers them to the Executive Director when appropriate.nn nn
• Assists in maintaining good public relations.nn nn
• Performs Mantoux/tests for Residents and staff and Hepatitis B for staff.nn nn
• Monitors quality of work performance of Care Partners and reports to Executive Director.nn nn
• Assures infection control procedures are known/followed by staff.nn nn
• Participates in service plan conferences; maintains medication and treatment records for each Resident as required.nn nn
• Works closely with staff and designated agent(s) to identify Resident problems/concerns/issues; follows up as needed and communicates same appropriately.nn nn
• Is on call according to pre-established schedule.nn nn
• Coordinates treatments within scope of license.nn nn
• Observes all work, safety and administrative rules.nn nn
• Conducts initial nursing assessment(s) of Residents and at significant change of condition.nn nn
• Works closely with the Executive Director to counsel the Resident and designated agent(s) meeting personal and related healthcare needs.nn nn
• Evaluates health emergencies and determines emergency medical measures taken regarding Resident care.nn nn
• Acts as Resident advocate in medical-social situations involving Resident and/or designated agents, physician, other agents or agencies.nn nn
• Coordinates administration of medications and treatments; observes results and documents same.nn nn
• Reads staff communications and maintains familiarity with other Resident records as required.nn nn
• Assures accurate transcription of physician orders into treatment/medication record.nn nn
• Assists as directed with move-in and orientation of new Residents and designated agent(s).nn nn
• Reviews Resident service records, treatment and medication books to assure quality of care.nn nn
• Verifies physician orders, move-in/move-out information and initiates appropriate action/followup.nn nn
• Supervises ordering of medications from pharmacy.nn nn
• Coordinates therapeutic diet orders with staff as required.nn nn
• Assures proper records are maintained.nn nn
• Identifies Resident and staff training needs.nn nn
• Trains and supervises Care Partners under the Nurse Delegation Act.nn nn
• Conducts training as assigned and mandated by regulatory requirements.nn nn
• Training and supervision of staff to perform medication assistance services.nn nn
• Performs other duties as assigned.nn nn nn nn QUALIFICATIONS: nn nn
• A passion for helping seniorsnn nn
• Possess a valid Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nursing license to practice in the state of employment, preferred.nn nn
• Three years of nursing experience, including management experiencenn nn
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in English), both verbally and in writing, with residents and staffnn nn
• Must have a genuine interest in the care of the elderly and for issues that impact the elderly.nn nn
• Must be able to cope with high levels of stress that position may cause.nn nn
• Ability to relate to residents and staff in a courteous and diplomatic manner under all circumstances.nn nn
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and to convey strong public-relations skills.nn nn
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach with coworkers, residents, and staff
• Have effective organizational and project management skills with attention to detailnn nn
• Possess excellent customer service skills.nn nn
• Ability to work under time constraints and meet department deadlines.nn nn nn
