nn Reputable and Growing Packaging Machinery Manufacturer in Spokane seeks a Controls Engineer for its growing team.

This is a newly created role working as part of a small technical services team, who’s function is to support the Field Service Organization with PLC programming, editing, and troubleshooting, all done out of the home office in Spokane.

nn nn n nn nn POSITION SUMMARY nn nnThe Technical Services Engineer is an engineering position for the Technical Services Group in the Engineering department.

This position performs assignments designed to manage and resolve in-bound customer service issues that require engineering-level technical support.nn nn n nn nn ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES nn nn
· Handling in-bound calls or issues from customers where it will be required to identify and manage any potential issues or problems with the machines.nn nn
· Able to apply mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and controls knowledge and advanced troubleshooting skills to address customer requests and machine issues.nn nn
· Become proficient with all aspects of remote machine access and diagnostic systems including Web Portals, VPNs, and specific customer network requirements.

Maintains all customer web portal logs and information.nn nn
· Able to analyze electrical and safety circuits in both JIC and IEC formats (power, grounding, noise analysis).nn nn
· Ability to interact with PLC’s by getting on-line, navigate and debug / troubleshoot / identify issues, perform PLC program modifications and debugging under the guidance of the senior product controls engineer.

Also, demonstrate capability working with control system software in order to load and modify PLC programs, web portals, HMI’s, AC Drives.nn nn
· Use engineering technical background to identify deficiencies in the Alliance knowledge base and work independently or with other engineers in the department to develop procedures and processes to correct them.nn nn
· Assists in reviewing all procedures and processes in the various product line machine manuals for accuracy and consistency.nn nn
· Manages in-bound customer call logs with the ability to manipulate the data to discover trends and areas that need addressing and generate technical documentation to be submitted to the technical writing department.nn nn
· Assists in developing test plans to validate equipment and/or component design related to customer issues.

Sets up and performs tests; collects and correlates data.nn nn
· Provides production shop engineering support, as required.

Tasks may include testing solutions to customer-related issues, control system modifications, or other Engineering-related tasks.nn nn
· Completes normal and required administrative tasks (time sheets, logs, etc.)nn nn
· Assists with machine installations and startups, as required.nn nn
· Becomes familiar with all company safety standards.nn nn
· Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.nn nn
