Payroll Specialist

Market Equipment

This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted March 30, 2021.

nnThe Payroll Specialist is responsible for tasks involved in processing payroll in Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah and Oregon.

The duties include reviewing daily time entry, calculating wages, managing withholdings and deductions, and ensuring employees receive pay on time.

A successful candidate will have knowledge of local, multi-state, and federal payroll tax law.

The ideal candidate can adapt to change and process improvements.

nn nn n nn nn Duties and Responsibilities: nn Own and process multi-state, bi-weekly payroll for 85+ employees and growing.

Compile and verify timekeeping information for all employees.

Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate.

Manage and calculate taxes, deductions, and garnishments.

Work with department supervisors to resolve timekeeping issues, including (but not limited to) missing time, type of leave used, vacation hours available, etc.

Process new employees, promotions, and terminations.

Investigate and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Maintain and updating payroll records.

Prepare periodic payroll reports.

Process 401(k) employee contributions after each payroll run, including sending employee data to the company 401(k) provider and notification to accounts payable specialist.

Process HSA withholding and employer contribution after each payroll, including sending employee data to HSA plan administrator and notification to accounts payable specialist.

Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal wage and hour laws.

Back up other areas as needed, including HR, Safety, and Accounts Payable.

Office administration duties as needed.

nn n nn nn Required Qualifications: nn High school diploma or equivalent.

Two (2) years payroll processing experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft office products Excel and Word Strong attention to detail and time management skills.

Integrity and discretion of utmost importance.

nn n nn nn Desired Qualifications: nn Post high-school education or coursework, including associates or bachelor’s degree.

Previous experience with multi-state payroll.

Prevailing wage knowledge would be great.

Experience with ADP payroll system.
