Transforming the Future with Convergence of Simulation and Data Cellular Network Field Operations Engineer Job Summary: Our client in Plymouth, MI, is looking for a Cellular Network Field Operations Engineer.

This is a contract position.

What You Will Do: As the Cellular Network Field Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting an operations team that will maintain multi-cellular and multi-access connectivity to Company vehicles, thereby allowing robust connectivity for not only today’s adventures but tomorrow’s as well.

Specifically, this role will proactively monitor, triage, and resolve connectivity issues across Company’s global fleet at the manufacturing facility, customer events, drive events, escalate issues internally and assist in the validation of connectivity test setups that enable Company to execute on our core connectivity functionality and services.

This role is situated meaningfully with cross-functional visibility as connectivity is the foundation in which all of Company’s digital capabilities are built upon.

Company’s Connected Fleet team works closely with cross-functional partners to support customer success, business, sales, engineering, testing, and deployments across our global fleet of vehicles.

This is a ground floor opportunity to revolutionize the connected car segment with an always connected vehicle that uploads thousands of signals every minute.

Ensure robust connectivity for all consumer/commercial vehicles and charger deployments by supporting connectivity and anomalies across Company’s global fleet to remotely resolve issues at different phases to support vehicle Connectivity.

Perform installation, inspection and maintenance services for wireless radio and antenna systems on towers, and other elevated structures in conjunction with the Technicians and Crew.

Identify and work with all required materials, tools and equipment needed to complete assigned work.

Maintain Connectivity equipment in a clean and operational condition at all times.

Maintain Connectivity equipment logs and inventory.

Serve as a subject matter expert and assist the Engineers, Crew Technicians on Connectivity related issues.

Acquire and document in-depth troubleshooting technical knowledge of infrastructure processes for connectivity, cellular, wireless , hardware etc.

Directly support the Connectivity diagnosis of infrastructure and individual vehicles and act as first level escalation support to resolve a problem given the available diagnostic resources.

Deep-dive into vehicle hardware and cellular log data if required to root-cause system-level issues and facilitate rapid issue resolution in collaboration with domain experts.

Responsible for predicting, testing and validating connectivity solutions end to end in partnership with Company engineering, vendors, and network operators.

Work cross functionally with manufacturing engineering, product management, digital technology, and vehicle engineering to test and validate new integrations/features in Field and Factory, Test locations prior to releasing to production.

Basics: 5 years working as a field engineer or cellular network operations within the IoT, wireless/networking, or connected car industries vehicle.

Experience on LTE/5G/CBRS cell tower deployment, Private LTE and issue debugging process and tools Networking experience with TCP/IP, Routers, Firewall, Load Balancers, DNS, Routing Protocols configuration.

Valid driver’s license.

Minimum 1-2 years tower construction/climbing certification experience preferred.

Must be flexible to work out of Market when/where required as site locations dictate.

Role includes 75% travel to test locations.

Must be flexible to work overtime (weekend and evening work sometimes required).

Must be comfortable climbing and working at heights on towers, rooftops, and other elevated structures up to 500ft.

Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
– proactively collaborate cross-functionally with other teams to solve vehicle-level integration and manufacturing problems.

Available for on call duty during the weekend, post business hours and holidays as necessary.

Flexibility to meet the requirements of 24×7 support operations.
