Data Engineer

Northwest Farm Credit Services is in search of a Data Engineer to join our Data Management Department.

This position will support our Headquarters team in Spokane, Washington but can work out of any branch locations in our chartered territory.

As a member-owned financial cooperative, we help business owners in agriculture, forestry and fisheries secure the financing they need to operate and grow, and the crop insurance they need to protect their livelihoods.

Our customers are primarily located in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska.

This full-time position reports to the Manager-Data Administration and works to implement database applications, database warehouses and cloud solutions in support of organizational data initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Creates and maintains optimal data pipeline architecture on Azure platform.

Ensures that system designs adhere to solution architecture design and are traceable to functional as well as non-functional requirements.
Leverages Azure Data Factory and Databricks to assemble large, complex data sets that meet end user and business requirements.

Designs new solutions and services to improve overall user experience.
Identifies, designs, and implements internal process improvements such as automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery.

Defines system design standards to improve and sustain standardization.
Builds the infrastructure required for optimal data extraction, transformation, and loading from a wide variety of data sources.

Establishes standardized design and development processes to enable cost effective delivery.
Designs relational and non-relational data stores on Azure.
Builds analytical tools to provide actionable insights from key business performance metrics.
Assists Manager-Data Administration in leading coordination with other staff to ensure data handling meets organizational objectives for data quality, business process management, and risk management.

This includes, but is not limited to, developing procedures, building analytical tools, and designing data structures.
Provides technical mentoring to less experienced data administration staff for best practices on data engineering.
Perform all duties and maintain all standards in accordance with company policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, management information systems, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
At least seven years’ hands-on data engineering or database administration experience with proven quantitative orientation
Advanced proficiency in Azure SQL Database/Data Warehouse tools
Advanced knowledge of SQL
Strong experience in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) development, preferably using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
Knowledgeable in multiple reporting toolsets, preferably PowerBI
Experience in common SDLC practices and source control systems/processes
