We are currently seeking qualified and talented candidates for an Donor Development Administrative Assistant. This is a full-time non-exempt position. It may require working an occasional night and/or on the weekend.


Position Overview:

Sharing in the mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children® – Spokane, the Donor Development Administrative Assistant is responsible for administrative operations of the development department, gift processing, donor acknowledgment, and donor database management of the Development office. Understanding the importance of prospect research and relationship building, as it is related to the development process, is key to being successful in this position. This position reports to the Director of Development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing donations including detail data entry into the donor development system.
  • Creating monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
  • Continually updating and correcting database records.
  • Preparing donation acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
  • Maintaining donor files.
  • Coordinating productions and mailing of donor correspondence and appeal letters.
  • Assembling donor kits for events and meetings.
  • Scheduling meetings, coordinating travel, and taking minutes at Development Committee meetings.
  • Assisting in planning and organizing special events
  • Handling all administrative details associated with the department.

Job Requirements:

Training and Experience

  • Minimum two years administrative experience required.
  • Nonprofit development experience preferred.
  • Experience with Blackbaud CRM, Raiser’s Edge or other database system required.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Skilled in basic desktop publishing using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or similar software.
  • Experience working with high level donor and volunteers preferred.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Exceptional organizational skills with impeccable attention to detail required.
  • Ability to work independently and edit own work.
  • Ability to establish and monitor priorities; maintains flexibility and meets deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work successfully in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

Required Education

  • AA degree preferred or comparable experience.
