Compliance Associate

Overview POSITION SUMMARY: A Community Loan Servicing Associate Compliance Counsel is responsible and accountable to support Community Loan Servicing’s Compliance Counsel as part of the Compliance Management System and meet the objectives of the Compliance and Oversight Department.

The Associate Compliance Counsel should have an understanding of regulatory/compliance requirements related to mortgage servicing.

The Associate Compliance Counsel will consult with Department Management and Legal resources for interpretations related to requirements affecting current business functions Additionally, the Associate Compliance Counsel will regularly communicate with business managers to assist with ongoing impact of compliance related requirements in relation to the operational processes that ensure compliance.

The Associate Compliance Counsel will also communicate with the CLS Compliance & Oversight Management to ensure that CLS interpretations of compliance related requirements, regulatory alerts and implementation plans are documented, affected policies and procedures are updated and tracked, and any remediation required occurs and is documented.

Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research and interpret new mortgage servicing legislation, investor guidelines and agency requirements (CFPB,GSEs, etc).

Lead and/or participate in communicating applicable regulatory requirements to affected business units.

Responsible for the orderly, timely and legal conclusion of business matters undertaken by the company within the scope of such attorney’s areas of responsibility.

Responsible for performing legal research and provide responses to compliance based questions for Loan Servicing Practices.

Review and comment on marketing materials, customer facing notices, and mortgage servicing related disclosures.

Coordinate and assist with preparation of audit responses.

Assist other members of the CLS Compliance department as needed.

Special projects as assigned by the Chief Compliance Officer, Compliance Counsel and SVP of Compliance and VP of Compliance among others.

Contract review and transaction management SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: Required Skills: Must have a high level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to handle complex legal matters.

Must have solid organizational skills and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced corporate environment.

Knowledge and experience related to traditional federal and state consumer financial laws and regulations governing loan servicing and foreclosure process operations is required, including but not limited to, ECOA, FCRA, TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, the Dodd Frank Act, HUD rules, FDIC and MHA programs.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Required: Juris Doctor and United States Bar Membership At least 3-6 years of experience as an attorney with practical experience in the areas of lender representation, loan servicing and general corporate experience.

Proficient in Outlook Calendar, Contacts.

Proficient in Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

Litigation management experience is a plus as well Preferred: Proficient research skills with Lexis Nexis Certifications, Licenses, and/or Registration Juris Doctor from an accredited law school with admission to a bar to practice law in the United States and be able to waive in as In House Counsel with the Florida Bar Association if not barred in Florida.
