– OT Eligible Position Details: Summary of Duties: The Curriculum Specialist will support faculty in the design, development, and delivery of the medical school curriculum based upon best practices.

The incumbent will support faculty and administration with course design, implementation, and instructional approaches.

These include evaluation and monitoring of the curriculum via synthesis and interpretation of program evaluation and other information (e.g.

student feedback, faculty feedback, accreditation requirements) and supporting continuous quality improvement of the curriculum.

The incumbent will work closely with faculty, staff, and clinical campus locations to ensure all aspects of the medical school curriculum are coordinated consistently across the distributed campuses and clinical locations, including schedules in the learning management system and curriculum management systems (LMS & CMS) E.Flo MD.

This position will support Year 1 of the curriculum and the associated courses.

This includes design, operationalization, and continuous quality improvement each year the courses are offered.

Essential Duties: 40% Strategic Curricular Leadership
• Support the Associate Dean for Curriculum (and/or designated director) in strategic planning and continuous improvement of the medical education program.

• Coordinate instructional support activities over all four years of the medical education program.

• Serve as a central point of contact between students, faculty, staff, other departments, and/or external constituents on day-to-day programmatic activities.

• Collaborate with faculty to provide support related to course design.

• Support faculty in the application of best practices through course development, building, and delivery.

• Use systems thinking and process management to anticipate problems or challenges and propose solutions to address anticipated events.

• Independently problem solve issues that arise in the day-to-day operations and strategic development and implementation of curricular initiatives, seeking guidance from team members, Course Director, or manager of the Office of Curriculum when needed.

• Work closely with members of the Office of Assessment to coordinate all aspects of the MD program implementation.

• Collaborate with other units of the College of Medicine, including but not limited to Education Technology, Assessment and Evaluation, Faculty Development, Accreditation, Compliance, Student Affairs, biomedical sciences and clinical faculty departments for all matters related to curriculum services.

• Collaborate with Spokane Health Sciences Campus Information Technology, Library Services, Student Affairs for all matters related to curriculum services.

• Provide consultation for professional/faculty development needs to the Faculty Development team.

• Provide consultation for LMS & CMS (E.Flo MD) design and functionality.

40% Curricular Support
• Establish individual student schedules within LMS & CMS (E.Flo MD) for assigned year(s) of curriculum.

• Collect, organize, and upload session learning (activity) objectives into LMS & CMS (E.Flo MD) for assigned year(s) of curriculum.

• Create, manage, populate, and upload Education Activity Forms for assigned year(s) of curriculum.

• Update and maintain course information on course pages within LMS & CMS (E.Flo MD) for assigned year(s) of curriculum.

• Complete LMS & CMS (E.Flo MD) mapping activities, including mapping session level (activity) objectives to course objectives, milestones, program competencies, and assessment methods for assigned year(s) of curriculum.

• Lead or assist with record maintenance, database maintenance, site visit preparation, and correspondence.

• Assist in curriculum scheduling, developing, planning, organization, tracking and preparation of teaching sessions, rotation guides (or other key informational documents) and/or seminars.

• Collaborate with the office of Assessment to support development of assignments and the office of Evaluation to support development of evaluations of teaching sessions/or seminars.

• Coordinate regular and ad hoc curricular meetings including scheduling, agenda preparation, notes (discussion items and resulting task list), and distribution, room reservations, and other administrative tasks; identify follow-up tasks and propose strategies to address; anticipate and propose future meeting agendas; triage tasks and issues to assist Directors with prioritization.

• Maintain and track the development curricular documents, including revisions and version control.

• Work with faculty to ensure curriculum content is accurate and current.

• Coordinate with College Education Technology team to ensure student learning resources are available to students.

• Work with College Education Technology team to establish recordings and other technologies necessary for session capture for later viewing.

• Provide backup administrative support (schedule meetings, support, agenda preparation, distribution, take minutes, and manage documents on SharePoint for curriculum sub-committees) for the Curriculum Committee and subcommittees.

15% Quality Assurance
• Establish, maintain, report progress to appropriate stakeholders, and follow quality assurance procedures for assigned courses.

• Establish and maintain annual review calendar for content review, design, and processes for Years 3 & 4 and assure reviews occur in a timely manner to keep curricular quality improvement on track.

• Monitor and facilitate the performance of curricular quality control checks by faculty and staff.

• Update and distribute quality control standard operating procedures.

• Review and correct/update learning objectives for faculty and quality controls any/all content before entered into the learning management / curriculum management system.

5% Other
• Perform other related work as required or assigned Required Qualifications: A Bachelor’s Degree with major study in specific instructional area; or equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, Biology, Social, Physical, or Health Sciences, or closely related field.

• Demonstrated experience with educational technology systems including learning management systems.

• Experience utilizing Microsoft Office products such as Outlook (specifically complex calendaring), One Drive, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Experience in a fast-paced environment including frequent interactions with students, faculty, staff and/or the public.

• Proven ability to prioritize projects with competing deadlines, takes initiative and handle information in a confidential manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (creating/using formulas, tables, charts and graphs) Outlook, SharePoint and Adobe Acrobat Professional (creating fillable forms).

• Experience using Slack, Teams, Zoom (or other video-conferencing software).

• Working experience in post-secondary education and/or working experience in secondary education (in some cases).

• Experience with Instructional Design and Academic Technologies in a medical school.

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Higher Education Administration, or closely related field.
