Development Officer

Shriners Hospitals For Children

Come and join our dynamic team at Shriners Hospital for Children-Spokane as we seek a Philanthropy and Stewardship Officer. This key member of our Donor Development Department will work in collaboration with talented colleagues to engage and donors throughout our multi-state region as our healthcare system approaches exciting plans for a 100-year anniversary campaign.

This is a full-time benefitted position that reports to the Director of Development with a two-fold focus: (1) implementing stewardship and donor recognition activities; and (2) serving as a gift officer to identify, cultivate and solicit a portfolio of prospects and mid-level donors ($1,000 – $5,000 annually) with capacity to deepen their investments to the major gift level ($10,000+)

Stewardship and cultivation activities will include personal visits , strategic written and oral communications, and some stewardship events. We are a small but mighty team so flexibility to meet departmental needs will also be important.

The fundraising professional will employ strategies for identification, cultivation, timely solicitation and stewardship of prospects to increase their level of support. They will also write content for donor publications including a semi-annual newsletter, E-newsletters, annual stewardship report, some grants as well as specialized letters to donors.

Job Requirements:

·         Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

·         Excellent computer skills

·         Working knowledge of MS Office and fundraising software

·         Diplomacy, discretion and independent judgment

·         Team player with a positive attitude

·         Ability to organize and prioritize work and strong attention to detail

·         Five years of professional work experience with three years of progressively responsible fundraising   experience including securing annual fund and major gifts from individuals a plus

·         Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience required.

·         CFRE accreditation a plus
