Mortgage Loan Closer

DescriptionThe Loan Closer prepares the closing disclosure and closing documents for residential lending in accordance with secondary market requirements and the bank’s established goals and standards. Prospects should be fully competent in closing conventional, government, and custom loans to include being knowledgeable with closing regulations and requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSChecks documentation of the approved loan file to ensure that the investor, insurers, and bank qualifications are metKeeps informed of any changes in government regulations concerning residential lending.Keeps all involved parties informed during closing and answers questions regarding the transactionProvides assistance/training to processors and less experienced closers and may be asked to provide occasional technical assistance that is job specificMay assist walk-in customers and answer phone inquiries by providing information regarding residential loans and bank servicesResponsible for maintaining accurate and orderly filesReconciles the closing disclosure and explains figures and charges to appropriate partiesResponsible for reviewing complex loan file and determining and preparing required documentation for specific loan types, condition and investorsUpdates Loan Origination System for accuracy of loan fees and closing documentsOrders closing disclosure from escrow and reviews with closing documents for accuracy and completeness in accordance with investor and bank guidelinesHas a clear understanding of TILA/RESPA guidelinesProvides solutions/alternatives for documentation issuesProvides high quality customer service to all internal and external partners, researching and resolving routine issuesPerforms general correspondence and administrative duties as requested by department managerPerform compliance and risk management duties as required or assignedRegular, reliable attendance is requiredQUALIFICATIONSHas working knowledge of mortgage lending, government regulations and secondary market standards with 4-7 years of mortgage lending experienceHigh level of comprehension of TRID, investor, insurer, regulatory, and bank requirementsStrong interpersonal skills to maintain excellent relationship with management, staff and team members, using diplomacy and tact effectively to solve problems, gather data from multiple sources and ensure customer satisfactionAbility to efficiently operate calculators, word processing, using the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as department specific softwareOutstanding written and verbal communication skills, including extensive knowledge of spelling, punctuation and grammarAbility to maintain confidentiality of sensitive issues and informationAbility to multi-task effectively, prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professional demeanorSuperior time management and organizational skills; ability to coordinate own workload and independently with minimal supervisionThe contractor will not discharge or in any other manner discriminate against employees or applicants because they have inquired about, discussed, or disclosed their own pay or the pay of another employee or applicant.
