This recruitment will be used to establish a pool of candidates for regular and extra help positions in various offices.

This pool recruitment is open continuously; however we reserve the right and may exercise the option to close this recruitment at any time as we monitor the effectiveness of the pool.

Eligible candidates will remain active in the pool for 6 months from the date of application and will be referred to our hiring managers as positions become available throughout the County.

To remain in the pool after 6 months, you must reapply.SALARY NOTE: The salary listed above is for a position covered by the 1553 Union Contract.

Duties include performing clerical and technical support work requiring application of various work methods and procedures which may be relatively complex, some familiarity with laws and regulations controlling the department and with departmental functions, policies and practices.Examples of DutiesAnswers incoming calls; takes messages as appropriate; directs caller to correct individual.

Receives and resolves or refers citizen complaints to appropriate authorities.Types legal documents, letters, narrative and statistical reports, minutes, agendas, contracts, bids, etc.

Proofreads and corrects drafts for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and format.

Takes dictation and/or transcribes from tapes and answers correspondence.Compiles data based on research techniques and on statistical compilations which require an understanding of department programs, policies and procedures.

One year of experience at a level equivalent to Office Assistant 3 performing related work which would enable the individual to obtain a familiarity with the general intent or function of the department or division, or substituting coursework or training in office practices, secretarial science or other related area for up to six months of the experience.Selection FactorsConsiderable knowledge of:

There is no waiting period to use this time and it starts out at almost 2 days per month accrual.VacationFor employees with less than five (5) years of continuous service, the accrual rate is 1 day of vacation each month for a total of 12 days per year.

Spokane County pays 95% of the premium for full-time employees and 90% of the premiums for spouses and dependents.2020 Rates:Delta Dental Willamette DentalEmployee: $2.71 per pay Employee: $2.99 per payFamily: $5.42 per pay Family: $5.98 per payGroup Life InsuranceThe County provides a $25,000 group life insurance policy to employees that are non-represented, elected officials, 1553, 1553S, 280, 1135, 17, PWG, SPA, 492J, 492N, DSA, Road Supervisor Guild, RIC, OLC, and 690.

The County provides a $10,000 benefit for those represented by 492.

This benefit is paid in full by Spokane County.Long Term Disability CoverageProvides an income protection benefit in the event of a long-term illness or injury at rate of 60% of income up to a maximum of $5,000 per month.

Spokane County pays the full premium for this plan.RETIREMENTRetirement Plan (401a)Spokane County employees are automatically included in the Washington State Retirement System.

Both the employer and the employee contribute to the plan.

This retirement plan provides a guaranteed lifetime monthly benefit once vested and eligible for retirement.Additional Retirement Plan Option (457b)Employees may supplement their retirement income and save money on taxes by participating in this optional County program.

Roth (after-tax) option is also available through this retirement plan.VOLUNTARY BENEFITSAFLACSupplemental insurance is optional and is provided by AFLAC to help pay for benefits not covered by major medical insurance.
