Product Engineer

Custom Mechanical Solutions, Inc.

This is a Full-time position in Spokane, WA posted March 30, 2021.

nnThe Product Engineer is responsible for supporting the efforts of the outside sales team in delivering projects on time, within scope and authorized cost figures for our customers.

The position provides applications assistance during pre-sale and post-sale phases of projects, and is responsible for engineering support for all products represented by CMS.nn nn n nn nn Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following: nn Responsible for review of quote requests, analysis of bid documents, equipment selection, and pricing of equipment and services.

Prepare technical submittal documentation, manage orders/projects, and support the outside sales team as needed.

Responsible for assigned projects’ scope of work, schedule, budget, and profit/loss.

Responsible for timely completion of assigned projects and customer satisfaction.

Maintain excellent communication with customers and their representatives, including building owners, mechanical engineers and contractors, other trades, subcontractors, and field support staff.

Develop, evaluate, and discuss possible mechanical system solutions with customers.

Maintain strong support for our customers throughout the project process, including concept development, engineering support, specification review, quotation development, submittal preparation, order management activities, and service/warranty support.

Provide internal and customer-direct support for all products, including product specific engineering expertise and vendor software training/maintenance.

Maintain relationships with select vendors, including sales, engineering, production, and order management personnel.

Responsible for timely and accurate customer support on assigned projects, including quote, submittal, and order management as required.

Ensure compliance with internal equipment ordering and project transition processes.

Develop project fulfillment schedule.

Responsible for working with Project Managers to order equipment, track production/delivery of equipment, and follow-up with customers and vendors.

Assist customers in answering technical questions on HVAC systems, the proper application of our products, system alternatives, installation, operation, maintenance, and problem resolution.

Flexibility to work outside normal work hours, as required.

Maintain memberships with industry organizations to become active and involved in the construction community.

Attend meetings, trade shows, and educational seminars as appropriate.

nn n nn nn Education & Experience Requirements: nn nnBachelor’s degree in engineering from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.nn nn n nn nnFamiliarity with HVAC systems and temperature control equipment preferred.

The Applications Engineer works in a typical office environment with occasional visits to project sites, which includes outdoor work and work in mechanical/equipment rooms.

nn nn n nn nnProduct Engineers must have exceptional written and verbal communications skills.

Candidate must demonstrate the ability and willingness to communicate in a clear, concise, and diplomatic manner.

Outstanding attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are critical, as are honesty and the ability to develop and maintain deep customer relationships based on trust.

Candidate must be passionate about helping our customers to be successful and must continually strive to improve their understanding of our customers in order to provide first-class customer service.
