With a foundation in computer vision, algorithms, mapping, and Artificial Intelligence, TuSimple has created the first commercially viable Autonomous Freight Network.Opportunity OverviewTuSimple’s Team Lead, HR Operations operates as a leader within the HR Administration team, providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced HR Administration staff.In this role, the Team Lead, HR Operations provides superior tactical and administrative support to the Human Resources department and interacts with a wide range of employees and leaders throughout the Organization.

They verify and complete I9s, enter and update employee information into the system of record, ensure comprehensive onboarding and offboarding of employees, and conduct HR audits.

The incumbent is also responsible for researching, keeping up to date, and understanding applicable legislation and best practices.In addition, the Team Lead, HR Operations facilitates the Internship Program, ensuring interns have a robust experience focused on learning and development of both functional and professional skillsRole ResponsibilitiesProvides strong, efficient, and effective administrative support to the full Human Resources team.Owns and manages the full onboarding process, focusing on continued improvement.

Ensures all required processes for pre-hire onboarding are accurately completed and start criteria are met, prior to the hire’s first day.

Communicates any necessary delays in start dates with Business HR, Recruitment, and the manager providing updated timelines and rationale.Facilitates and leads New Hire Orientation.

Partners with IT and Business Support to ensure appropriate set up is complete for all new hires prior to their first day.

Researches onboarding best practices and makes recommendations for an improved onboarding experience.

Implements approved recommendations.Operates as the SME for I-9s.

Verifies I-9 documentation and completes I-9 forms.

Tracks and initiates updates, as necessary.

Leads the annual I-9 audit process.

Makes recommendations to update procedures in line with applicable legislation and best practices.Updates and processes employee hires, changes, and separations in our HRIS system (PAYCOM).

Reviews the work of less experienced HR Administration staff.

Makes recommendations to update data entry policies and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.Oversees meeting/training logistics through the scheduling of all necessary attendees, books meeting rooms and/or providing video conferencing details, preparies agendas and any other required documentation; arranges for beverages and/or meals, prepares meeting rooms, and assists with the clean up after.

Takes meeting minutes, identifies items for follow up, and distributes, as necessary.

Anticipates conflicts and/or issues and proactively works to resolve.Leads portions of HR Administration audits.

Coordinates and supports HR’s participation with audits led by other departments.

Makes recommendations to update associated policies and procedures inline with applicable legislation and best practices.Plans and coordinates events and off-sites, including staying within budgetary requirements and all logistics.Responds to and completes employment/unemployment verifications and requests for separation information.Answers frequently asked questions from employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.Ensures the maintenance and accuracy of human resource files, records, and documentation, in accordance with defined policies and procedures.

Makes recommendations to update file maintenance policies and procedures inline with applicable legislation and best practices.

Implements approved updates.

Assists with organizing the HR Shared Drive.Conducts research and gathers data.

Prepares and coordinates presentations, various reports, memos, correspondence, communications, organizational charts, spreadsheets, etc.

Updates and maintains web-pages, dashboards and other databases.Maintains quality control by editing and proofing work for errors and consistency.

Reviews the work of less experienced HR Administration staff.Partners with Recruitment, Talent, Training, and Business HR to facilitate a strong internship program.

Ensures interns have a solid internship plan that facilitates learning and skill development functional and professional.

Conducts check-ins and exit interviews.

Analyzes intern feedback and provides a summary of findings.

Researches best practices and makes recommendations for continued improvement.

Implements approved changes.Takes accurate and thorough notes for Business HR, in support of strong investigations and required documentation.Facilitates employee offboarding, including preparing all necessary paperwork.

Conducts exit interviews and highlights findings.

Prepares summary reports and complication of metrics.Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of all human resource files, records, and information.Experience & Skills Required4+ years of experience in Human Resources or related field.Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Management, Psychology, Communications, or related field preferred.Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Knowledge of employment legislation at the Federal, State, and Local levels.Proven ability to maintain excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Able to review and edit own work and the work of others.Demonstrated adaptability with addressing various competing demands, while providing the highest level of customer service and responsiveness.Ability to respectfully express opinions and support difficult decisions.Strong time management and organization skills, with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities.

Able to coordinate and support multiple projects concurrently, in a high-volume, fast paced environment.Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team; capable of effectively engaging with highly technical staff.Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Capable of listening and obtaining clarification, changing approach or method to best fit the situation.
