Up with KREM Anchor/MSJ

KREM/KSKN, TEGNA’s CBS affiliate in Spokane, has an immediate opening for an Anchor/MSJ to join our “Up with KREM” Morning Team. This innovative morning show is fun, urgent and engages with the audience. Are you a morning person who wants to help people get ready for their day? Are you a digital star who can write dynamic stories and engage with audiences on social media? If so, candidates should submit a link to a video resume reel as well as examples of social media posts that showcase journalism and personality. This position reports to the Morning Executive Producer.

Responsibilities:

• Anchor four-hour weekday morning newscast and fill-in anchor on other newscasts as needed
• Deliver on-air news coverage in an engaging, exciting and accurate manner
• Based on experience, be able to help Morning Executive Producer drive editorial decisions and breaking news behind the scenes
• Write in an exciting, captivating and authentic manner
• Write and post daily on all digital platforms including social media
• Interview news subjects and research for facts and credibility
• Develop original content through social listening and independent sources
• Develop news sources for general assignment and special areas of interest
• Write, shoot and edit news stories for on-air broadcasting
• Perform other tasks as required by leadership team

Requirements:

• 2+ years of on-air experience with a BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field OR 4+ years of on-air experience
• Understanding of the tenets of professional journalism
• Dynamic on-camera skills with a memorable personality both in studio and in the field
• Strong social media skills, including an active presence on Facebook and Instagram
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
• Ability to work mornings, nights and weekends*

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of ENPS, video equipment and Edius
• Familiarity with Northwest

Compensation and Benefits:
