Director, Marketing

Position Summary:  

We are seeking a Marketing Director to oversee and own all marketing, both internal and external for Kaspien.

We are looking for a candidate who embodies our leadership principals across the board and thrives in an ever changing, constantly evolving and fast-paced environment.

This position will be highly visible, reporting directly to the COO and engaging weekly with the rest of the executive team. 

This position is remote through the COVID-19 pandemic, and will then be located at the Kaspien HQ in Spokane Valley, WA.


Essential Job Functions:  

  • Work in conjunction and partnership with other Kaspien leaders to drive additional traffic, conversions, and leads for Kaspien.
  • Oversee in the development of branding and corporate identity initiatives
  • Building brand awareness and strategic market positioning. 
  • Oversee inbound marketing efforts driving prospective new business for Kaspien
  • Develop and implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects 
  • Develop and manage marketing budgets 
  • Develop sales forecasting and product branding plans
  • Manage costs and budgets 
  • Planning, directing and coordinating marketing efforts
  • Evaluating, developing, and communicating the marketing strategy and marketing plan across Kaspien 
  • Drive and manage relationships with investor relations and public relationships groups.
  • Conduct customer, brand and product research initiatives 
  • Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media and events 
  • Negotiate with media partners to guarantee advantageous contracts 
  • Work with new business development team and sales teams on brand initiatives 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Supervise a marketing team, including hiring, training, workloads, schedules, and deadlines 
  • May oversee the operation of a company’s website or email marketing program and provide analytics review

  • SQL (Sales Qualified Leads) 
  • MQL to Opportunity Conversion Rate
  • ACOS and ROAS across Kaspien brand partners
  • Kaspien NPS (Net Promoter Score)
  • Website traffic 
  • LTV (Customer Lifetime Value) 
  • CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost) 


Required Skills: 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously 
  • Results oriented and willing to roll up their sleeves with their team.
  • Clear written and verbal communication 
  • Deep understanding and expertise of digital-marketing, inbound marketing, and paid advertising both on-and-off amazon.
  • Ability to lead business reviews across cross functional teams (Weekly and Monthly Business Reviews) specifically for our subscriptions P&L 
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in branding and articulating complex and diverse corporate value propositions.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively and collaboratively 
  • Expand upon and develop new performance measurements for our Subscriptions business and on behalf of our clients 
  • Innovation on our value proposition to ensure our services stay best-in-class relative to our competition 
  • Extremely detailed and process oriented 

Knowledge, Education, and Experience:  

  • BA/BS degree or higher required 
  • 7+ years experience in marketing management
  • Experience partnering and driving innovation for software services with Product and Engineering teams. 
  • Proficient in building and managing a comprehensive marketing budget.
  • Experience managing remote teams, both domestic and offshore 
  • Experience with amazon marketplace selling 
  • Experience leading and motivating a team 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  

  • Lead a team of 15-20 employees in both a local (domestic) and remote (international) environment. 

Work Environment:  

  • Fast-paced, deadline-oriented office environment; currently remote through COVID-19. 

Physical Demands:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer 
  • Must be able to regularly talk, hear, see and operate a computer, keyboard and mouse 
  • Occasionally lift, pull/push and carry up to 15 pounds
