Relationship Manager

Northwest Farm Credit Services is in search of a Relationship Manager to join our Customer Solutions department in our Spokane, Washington Headquarters location. Consideration will also be given to qualified applicants who prefer to be based out of our Pasco, Washington branch. As a member-owned financial cooperative, we help business owners in agriculture, forestry and fisheries secure the financing they need to operate and grow, and the crop insurance they need to protect their livelihoods. Our customers are primarily located in Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Alaska. This full-time position reports to the VP-Customer Solutions and is responsible for ensuring timely correction and collection of adversely classified loan portfolio through effective service, and proactive management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages assigned loan portfolio, primarily consisting of businesses in the production agriculture sector, to assure timely resolution, and, where appropriate, upgrade and transfer to marketing staff.
  • Maintains data and file documentation, to ensure effective portfolio management and sound credit administration, by reviewing portfolio characteristics, providing analytical support as necessary, and approving/recommending loan actions within delegated authority.
  • Develops financial analysis skills that lead to sound recommendations that manage association risk and provide a path to resolution of higher risk loan relationships.
  • Provides periodic financial analysis as a member of the account team, to support moderate to large, increasingly complex customer relationships.
  • Participates in internal workgroups assuring annual analysis and confirmation of appropriate credit classification is completed.
  • Maintains effective relationship management including analyzing, interpreting, and presenting financial information; and meeting with and negotiating terms and conditions with assigned accounts, which may include attending meetings with legal counsel and customer meetings as assigned.
  • Classifies loans and loan data attributes including recommended charge-offs/reserves, cash income accounting and allowances on assigned loans; reports portfolio quality, statistics, and loan activity to supervisor.
  • Collaborates with the Lending and Insurance Group by participating in large OAEM servicing/shadowing to assure sound risk management and guidance for high risk credit relationships with an above average potential of downgrade to an adversely classified loan classification.
  • Establishes valuations of real estate, personal property and other collateral.
  • Develops and demonstrates a sound understanding of loan pricing programs, models and tools.
  • Gathers financial information and assists in credit investigations, public record searches, employment/income verifications, and customer visits.
  • Participates in loan closings by ensuring the appropriate documentation is completed and understood by the customer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform financial analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and negotiate terms on behalf of the association for low complexity and smaller size relationships, both verbally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of production agriculture.
  • Ability to perform cash flow projections and trend analysis interpretation.
