We know our success depends on your success.Key Accountabilities & ResponsibilitiesThe Transportation Manager develops and administers strategies, programs, and systems for the Transportation Services department in support of the Clearwater Paper enterprise. Provides leadership and guidance for the Transportation Services department. Supports efforts to increase margins and reduce delivered costs, improves customer service, and enhances competitiveness consistent with Clearwater Paper’s initiatives.Manages the Transportation Services department and team deliverables.Assumes leadership role and sets the standard on quality job performance for Transportation Services.Supports and aids in the development of technical skills for all distribution personnel.Fosters cooperative solutions. Ensures departmental goals are met. Develops and maintains transportation information systems, processes, and data bases for the enterprise.Interfaces with the Supply Chain, IT, Accounting Sales, Audit and Manufacturing in support of enterprise EBITDA objectives.Acts as administrator for transportation management systems (TMS) TPM. Oversees development, implementation, and maintenance of distribution related systems, licensing fees, divisional interfaces, and accounting systems.Assists in the annual transportation procurement process (Bid) and ensure RFQ systems, reports, and carrier communications are best-in-class.Manages the freight-invoicing process Collaborates on development and maintenance of distribution key performance indicators (KPI’s). Works with Audit to ensure distribution key controls are in place and maintained.Manages and maintains all transportation contracts, rate schedules and accessorial records.Manages the fuel reimbursement program and quality carrier program for the enterprise. Oversees management for LTL, small package, and expedited transportation needs for the enterprise. Oversees the transportation department web page and share point site.Negotiates and manages transportation Information system pricing.Works with corporate, and contracted, legal staff in support of transportation related contracts and revisions.Attends sales meetings, customer visits, and industry conferences when possible.Assists in the preparation of the site’s distribution budget.Oversees the monthly transportation and financial reports.Maintains a safety focused work environment.Key Competencies & AttributesActively seeks and allocates appropriate decision-making authority or task responsibility to appropriate individuals based on their abilities, availability, motivation, and development needs; considers potential positive and negative impact, business unit priorities, organizational values, and the opportunity to enhance others’ knowledge and skills.Identifies barriers that impact customer service and retention; communicates concerns and recommendations to others.Uses understanding of customer needs and the organization’s customer service practices to set priorities, make decisions, and take actions that create customer satisfaction and prevent service issues from occurring.Creates relevant options for addressing problems and opportunities that will achieve desired outcomes.Systematically evaluates business opportunities, targeting those with the greatest potential for producing positive business results.Education/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in business administration, transportation- logistics, information technology, business intelligence, or related field. Minimum 10 years’ experience in the transportation and logistics field, preferably in the forest products industry. Skills/AbilitiesHas a thorough understanding of all aspects of transportation/distribution, including motor, rail, intermodal, LTL, export, TMS and BI. Proficient in use of Microsoft Word and Excel. JDE, Elixir, Logility, SQL, and Crystal experience preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational, planning and problem solving skills.
