Applications will only be accepted prior to 4:00 p.m. on the closing date.The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Website Design Manager in the Marketing and Public Relations Division.GENERAL DEFINITIONUnder the general direction of the Communications Director, the Web Design Manager is responsible for the consistent brand-building design, layout, visual elements and overall usability of Community Colleges of Spokane’s (CCS) web sites, encompassing the District, Spokane Community College (SCC) and Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC). The Web Design Manager will work collaboratively with other members of the CCS Marketing and Public Relations department and Information Technology department to support the strategic goals and initiatives established by the CCS executive team and college student services and instruction leaders. This position will serve as lead contact person for districtwide web site design requests.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESCarry out all design work for the comprehensive CCS internet and intranet sites — creating a clean, well-structured, visually appealing, user-friendly and easily maintained format, including initial planning, layout and organization, overall navigation and flow, creation of graphic elements and incorporation of audio-visual elements to effectively communicate, maximize usability and enhance the overall customer experience. *Coordinate web design and content with CCS graphic designers and the Web Content Manager to maintain brand standards and consistency. *Coordinate web design work with outside contractors as needed. *Work consistently with CCS Information Technology web team to ensure seamless integration of front-end to back-end functionality. *Provide leadership, collaboration and teamwork on a districtwide website project team and assist in training website users in best practices to maintain and enhance sections of the websites. *Design online advertising creative and work with CCS Information Technology to integrate online advertising analytics on the website. *Continually evaluate and update web site design and functionality to support changing needs of district, student, and instructional services. *Regularly test web site functionality and analytics, providing reports on search engine optimization and Google Analytics. *Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. ** Indicates this is an essential duty.COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)Associate degree or certification in web design, graphic design, visual communication design or related field from an accredited institution.Three (3) years of web design experience.Experience with databases, webpage scripting, programming, digital imaging, multimedia design and web development.Experience in responsive design and mobile optimization.Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues.Strong understanding of search engine optimization principles and Google Analytics.Practical, professional-level experience using all or some of the following: Adobe Creative Suite software, CSS, HTML, XTML.Excellent design skills.Demonstrated ability to create an integrated multi-organization web site that is easy to navigate, incorporates a family look and feel, and is visually and functionally effective.Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work as an effective team member in a creative environment.Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS.The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)Bachelor’s degree or higher in web design, graphic design, visual communication design or related field from an accredited institution.Exposure to some or all the following: NET Framework, XML, PHP, Oracle, MS SQL Server, Windows Server environments, Java Server Pages, ColdFusion Server, CFML and CFScript.Experience with UX design.Experience with Kentico.Experience working in a distributed web content management environment.Experience designing and managing content within an enterprise resource management system (ERP) such as PeopleSoft, Banner, SAP, etc.General knowledge of the role community and technical colleges fulfill in meeting the high education needs of the regions they serve.General knowledge of CCS, SCC, and SFCC.CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:TOTAL COMPENSATION: $75,735 – $78,549.Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:Base compensation, plusCurrent employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plusMedian retirement fund contributions.The actual total will vary depending upon each employee’s enrollment choices.Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment. Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.
